Celebrate National Bagel Day

National Bagel Day is a perfect occasion to celebrate one of the most beloved breakfast items in the world. Bagels are not just a food—they’re a cultural icon (All Hail the Everything Bagel!), enjoyed by millions of people daily for their chewy, soft, and perfectly toasted texture. This year, COBS Bread is taking your bagel experience to the next level with the introduction of their new lineup of delicious bagels: Plain, Sesame, and Everything Bagels.

To make the day even sweeter, the first 25 customers at any bakery will receive a free bagel—so don’t miss out on this tasty celebration!

YOU GET A BAGEL!

Plain Bagel – Less Is More

Sometimes, nothing beats the classic. COBS Bread’s new Plain Bagel is the perfect choice for purists who appreciate the traditional flavor and chewy texture of a hand-stretched bagel. Whether you enjoy it warm with butter, as a sandwich base, or with a smear of your favorite spread, the Plain Bagel offers the flexibility to suit any topping. Its simplicity allows you to savor the quality and taste of freshly baked bread without distraction.

Sesame Bagel – Toasty and Irresistible

For those who enjoy a little more flavor in their bagel, the Sesame Bagel is the ideal choice. The golden sesame seeds on top provide a satisfying crunch and nutty flavor that complements the soft, chewy interior. Toasted to perfection, the Sesame Bagel pairs wonderfully with cream cheese, hummus, or even smoked salmon for a delicious savory breakfast or lunch.

Everything Bagel – Flavor Explosion

If you love variety and bold flavors, the Everything Bagel is sure to satisfy your taste buds. This bagel is loaded with a delicious combination of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, onion, and salt. The unique blend of seasonings creates a savory taste that’s perfect for any time of day. Whether you top it with a fried egg, your favourite deli meats, or a generous dollop of cream cheese, the Everything Bagel offers a flavorful bite every time.

Herb & garlic is no longer reserved for cream cheese.

The classic burger has recently been challenged: burgers are taking on new flavour profiles, new ingredients, and new textures from vegan patties to non-traditional cuts of meat. In a world of endless burger options, we decided to experiment with something that’s just as important as the patty: the bun! Because we should have more bun options too, right?

Introducing our Herb & Garlic Gourmet Bun. The idea for a savoury bun originated from our bakers at COBS Bread Spall Road, located in Kelowna, British Columbia. We loved their idea so much that we took it into further development, and voila! The Herb & Garlic Gourmet Bun was born. Our bakery teams are passionate about everything they do and new products are no exception, especially when it’s one of their own.

Filled with our favourite Mediterranean spices, like basil and oregano, it will take your next BBQ experience to a whole new level. Baked fresh everyday, we can guarantee your bun will be both fresh and flavourful. This bun is very versatile and will pair well with any protein you choose.

Gone are the days when the protein is the hero of your burger or sandwich. And we’re not the only ones who think so. Don’t believe us? Visit a COBS Bread near you.

Tried the Herb & Garlic Gourmet Hamburger or Hot Dog Bun and loved it? We promise you’ll love this Next-Level Herb & Garlic Gourmet Turkey Burger too.

Have you tried it yet? The festive scone made with real eggnog and topped with a spiced cream cheese icing. We heard Santa tried it, and he has since cancelled all his orders for cookies. He only wants COBS Eggnog Scones from now on. This very special festive scone recipe was created by the baking team at COBS Bread Harris Green, in Victoria BC.

Our passion for baking shines through in our bakeries every day and this includes the creation of new products. We have a dedicated Product Innovation Specialist who develops new recipes and in-bakery meal inspirations. He works very closely with a network of Test Bakeries to try new ideas that either come through formal development, or quite often from experimentation at the bakeries.

There wasn’t an Eggnog Scone, so they made one.

Mel, the production manager at COBS Bread Harris Green had the inspiration for the Eggnog Scone. Ideas are always popping into their heads while they mix, knead, roll, and ice the handmade products. Eggnog is such a festive flavour, and it was missing from the COBS holiday treat line up. The Gingerbread Scone has become a tradition, so why not build up the collection of Holiday scones with eggnog?

They pretty much nailed it on the first try.

It took a couple adjustments to the eggnog to water ratio to find the right balance, but really, they pretty much nailed it on the first try. Then they added some spice to our cream cheese icing, and it became an irresistible treat.

Customers can’t stay away.

The scones were a huge hit right away. They are so good, people that thought they weren’t Eggnog fans have been wow’d by them! It must be because they are so soft, and the eggnog flavour is light, but there is still a delicious amount of holiday spice.

If staff want to create a recipe, go for it!

We are bakers, and bakers are creators. Josh, the owner of COBS Bread Harris Green gives his team of bakers creative freedom. If they want to make something, he says go for it! Right now they are working to perfect:

  • Apple Cheddar Sourdough
  • Jalapeno Cornbread Scones
  • Crushed Candy Cane Scones to complete the trinity of holiday flavours 😉
